Clean Energy Charging Option Added to iPhone in iOS 16.1 Beta

Clean Energy Charging Option Added to iPhone in iOS 16.1 Beta

Clean Energy Charging is a brand-new feature that was included in the beta version of iOS 16.1 that was sent to developers today. Its purpose is to assist iPhone users in reducing their overall impact on the environment.

'Green Charging'

Clean Energy Charging is a feature that can be found in the Settings app's Battery section. It selectively charges the device when power with lower carbon emission levels is available in an attempt to give a more environmentally friendly charging option.

According to Apple, the iPhone will still achieve a full charge before it is required depending on the daily activity of a user, and the capability may be toggled off if the user so chooses. It is set to be active by default. The debut of iOS 16 was the first time that Apple acknowledged the Clean Energy Charging function, at which point it included it as a forthcoming option.

Additional Notable Features

For the first time, customers are given the option to remove the Wallet app with the release of iOS 16.1. If you delete the Wallet app, you won't be able to utilize a variety of different services, such as Apple Pay, Apple Cash, and Apple Card. This is to be expected, as you won't have access to the app.

In addition, the option to personalize your Lock Screen is one of the most prominent new features introduced with iOS 16. You can add various app widgets such as move to iOS to the lock screen. Apple is introducing a change with iOS 16.1 that clarifies how to set the Lock Screen background as opposed to the Home Screen wallpaper.

You will now see two distinct choices when you long-press on the Lock Screen and choose the "Modify" button: the first allows you to edit the wallpaper on the Lock Screen, while the second allows you to customize the wallpaper on the Home Screen.

Moreover, both iOS 16.1 and iPadOS 16.1 have extremely early compatibility for the Matter smart home accessories that are currently available. The Matter smart home standard is a new standard for the connected home that intends to increase the cross-platform compatibility of the most popular categories of accessories.

This is just the beginning of the features we expect to see with the new OS versions. It is worth mentioning that these features are in the Beta version hence they may be scrapped once the final stable version of iOS 16.1 is released.
