Apple’s Future Devices: Foldable iPhone, Foldable iPad, and the Vision Air
Apple’s product roadmap is shaping up to be one of its most ambitious yet. According to respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the next few years will bring major innovations to the tech giant’s lineup — including a foldable iPhone in 2026, a foldable iPad in 2028, and a lighter, more affordable Vision Air headset in 2027.
A Foldable iPhone in 2026
For years, rumors of a foldable iPhone have been circulating — and now, Kuo suggests that 2026 could finally be the year Apple enters the foldable market.
Both the foldable iPhone and iPad are expected to use ultra-thin cover glass jointly manufactured by Corning (the maker of Gorilla Glass) and Chinese supplier GIS. This specialized glass will be more expensive than standard options, which is one reason why the price of the foldable iPhone is expected to be between $1,800 and $2,000.
With a foldable iPhone on the horizon, many users may be planning their next big upgrade. This is where Smart Transfer, a third-party mobile transfer app, can make the experience stress-free. The app allows users to transfer contacts, photos, videos, music, and documents from their current device to a new one — whether it’s iOS to iOS, Android to Android, or even cross-platform. I was able to transfer my data without any hassle.
Unlike cloud backups, Smart Transfer uses Wi-Fi for direct device-to-device transfers, making the process faster, private, and unlimited by cloud storage caps. If you’re already excited about Apple’s upcoming devices, Smart Transfer is the perfect iPhone app transfer companion to ensure your transition is smooth and your data stays with you.
A Foldable iPad in 2028
The foldable iPad will follow two years later, in 2028, and will likely come with a significantly higher price tag than the foldable iPhone due to its larger screen and higher material cost. Apple may be aiming this product squarely at professional users and creators who want a portable yet expansive canvas for work and play.
Vision Air: A Lighter, Cheaper Vision Pro
Another exciting development is the rumored Vision Air headset, expected in 2027. This next-gen mixed-reality device will reportedly be over 40% lighter than the Vision Pro, dropping to around 400 grams, and more than 50% cheaper, with a price of about $1,750.
This combination of affordability and improved comfort could make the Vision Air a mainstream hit. Kuo predicts Apple could ship 1 million units in its first year — a major leap compared to the Vision Pro’s estimated 400,000 shipments.
The Big Picture
Apple is preparing for a transformative few years. The foldable iPhone could redefine how we use smartphones, the foldable iPad may push the boundaries of portable productivity, and the Vision Air could finally bring spatial computing to the masses.
If these predictions hold true, 2026–2028 could mark a bold new era for Apple — one that changes how we interact with technology.
