Google Pixel 10 Event: What to Expect on August 20

The fall tech season is officially underway. Samsung already revealed its latest devices in July, and now it’s Google’s turn. On August 20, the company will host its highly anticipated Made by Google event, where we’ll finally see the Pixel 10 lineup, along with new wearables and audio gear.

The event kicks off at 1 PM ET and will be streamed live on the Made by Google YouTube channel. While leaks have given us plenty of hints about what’s coming, Google is known for saving a surprise or two for showtime.

Pixel 10: Smarter, Faster, and More Capable

At the heart of the Pixel 10 series is the brand-new Tensor G5 chip, designed to be more power-efficient while powering advanced Gemini AI features. This should translate into faster performance, better multitasking, and improved on-device intelligence.

Perhaps the most exciting upgrade comes to the base Pixel 10, which will reportedly include a 5x telephoto camera lens. Previously, optical zoom was exclusive to Pixel Pro or Fold models. This means even the entry-level Pixel will be a powerhouse for photography enthusiasts.

Across the lineup, expect higher-resolution cameras and improved image processing to further cement Google’s reputation for computational photography.

A New Charging Ecosystem: Pixelsnap

Google is also expected to introduce Qi2 magnetic charging, paired with a new accessory platform called “Pixelsnap.” Much like Apple’s MagSafe, Pixelsnap will allow users to attach accessories—such as wallets, mounts, and portable chargers—magnetically to the back of their phones. This could mark the beginning of a whole new Pixel accessory ecosystem.

Wearables and Audio Updates

Alongside the new smartphones, Google is preparing updates for its broader hardware family:

  • Pixel Watch 4: Rumored to feature a larger battery and slimmer bezels, improving both performance and aesthetics.

  • Pixel Buds 2a: A budget-friendly refresh to Google’s earbuds, with refinements in sound quality and usability.

With new devices rolling out, one of the biggest challenges for users is transferring all their important data—photos, contacts, files, and videos—from their old phones. While Google offers built-in android file transfering tools, many users look for more flexible third-party wifi files sharing options.

That’s where Smart Transfer shines. This file sharing and phone transfer app makes moving content between phones effortless, whether you’re switching from an old Pixel, an iPhone, or even an Android device from another brand. By connecting over Wi-Fi, Smart Transfer eliminates the need for cables or cloud storage, ensuring a fast, secure, and seamless setup as you transition to the Pixel 10.

Celebrity-Packed Launch

Adding a bit of showbiz flair, Google has teased an unusual roster of celebrity guests for the event. Expect appearances from Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Curry, Lando Norris, and the Jonas Brothers. While celebrity endorsements may feel a little quirky, they’re sure to keep the livestream entertaining.

Final Thoughts

From next-gen AI features powered by the Tensor G5 chip to optical zoom on the base Pixel 10 and the debut of the Pixelsnap ecosystem, Google’s August 20 event promises to set the tone for the year’s smartphone innovations. Pair that with third-party tools like Smart Transfer, and upgrading to the latest Pixel becomes not just exciting, but completely stress-free.
