Apple’s AI Journey: Delays in Siri’s Evolution and the Future of iOS

Last year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple was developing a "more conversational" version of Siri for iOS 19.4, powered by advanced large language models (LLMs). This update was expected to bring Siri closer to ChatGPT-level capabilities, enhancing its ability to understand and respond to complex queries.

However, in his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman revealed that Apple is facing significant delays in rolling out this enhanced version of Siri. Development setbacks within the company have pushed back its anticipated launch, leaving Apple trailing behind competitors like OpenAI in the generative AI space.

Siri’s Delay and iOS 19.4 Expectations

Originally, Apple planned to introduce the upgraded Siri at WWDC 2025 in June, aligning with the release of iOS 19.4 in early 2026. However, Gurman now reports that some Apple engineers believe this Siri revamp will not be ready until at least iOS 20. This suggests that Apple is still fine-tuning its AI capabilities and addressing internal challenges before making a major leap forward.

Despite these delays, iOS 19 will reportedly include fundamental changes to Siri’s architecture, enabling it to handle more advanced queries. These underlying enhancements may pave the way for future AI-powered updates, even if the highly anticipated conversational Siri is not arriving as soon as expected.

While Apple continues to refine its AI-driven assistant, users are already seeking smarter and more seamless tech solutions. One such WhatsApp transfer tool is Smart Transfer, a third-party data send app that simplifies file sharing across different platforms, including iOS and Android. Unlike Apple’s AirDrop, which is limited to Apple devices, Smart Transfer’s clone phone files feature enables fast, wireless transfers between smartphones, tablets, and even PCs. Whether you're moving photos, documents, or videos, this app ensures a hassle-free experience, making technology work for you—without delays or restrictions.

What’s Coming Next for Siri?

While the next-generation Siri is facing delays, Apple is still making incremental improvements. iOS 18.2 introduced ChatGPT integration, and Google Gemini is expected to follow in a later update. Additionally, iOS 18.5, likely launching in May, is set to bring on-screen awareness, personal context understanding, and deeper per-app controls—features originally planned for iOS 18.4.

These updates indicate Apple’s ongoing efforts to refine Siri’s AI-driven capabilities. However, the delays in delivering a fully conversational Siri highlight the company’s struggle to keep pace with AI advancements led by competitors.
