WhatsApp introduces new feature for sharing media on Windows beta

WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps worldwide, has reportedly introduced a new shortcut for sharing photos and videos in chats and groups on Windows beta. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the new feature allows users to share media directly from the application, making it easier and more convenient for users to share their media files.

Previous methods of sharing media on the app required users to use drag and drop or the 'File' sharing option, which only allowed them to share photos and videos as documents. However, with the new shortcut, users can now share media files directly from the app, saving them time and effort.

The new shortcut has been made available to beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2306.2.0 update, which can be found on the Microsoft Store. The feature is expected to roll out to more users in the coming days, providing an improved experience for millions of WhatsApp users worldwide.

Disable Call Notifications on Windows Beta

In addition to the new media sharing shortcut, last December, it was reported that WhatsApp was rolling out a new feature that allows users to disable notifications for calls on Windows beta. The feature is particularly useful for users who receive call notifications while do not disturb mode is enabled.

The move is part of WhatsApp's ongoing efforts to improve the user experience and enhance the app's capabilities. With this new feature, users can now disable call notifications when they don't want to be disturbed, providing them with more control over their notifications and allowing them to use the app more effectively.

New 'Communities' Feature

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will bring communities to its WhatsApp Business application on Android. The platform is not expected to remove the business tab introduced last year. Instead, it might add a new entry point for the new feature within the application menu.

With the new 'Communities' feature, users will be able to create and join communities within the app, making it easier for businesses to connect with their customers and vice versa. The feature is still under development and is not yet ready to be released to beta testers, but it shows that WhatsApp is committed to improving the app and providing users with more features and capabilities.

Move to iOS & Core

While WhatsApp is constantly improving and introducing new features, there are still limitations to what the app can do. For example, transferring files from one device to another can be a challenge, especially when switching between different operating systems.

Fortunately, there are third-party apps that can help with this, such as Core, an all-in-one file management app that allows users to move to iOS. Additionally, for those moving from an Android device to an iPhone, Apple has a built-in feature called Move to iOS that allows users to transfer their data easily and securely.

Summing Up

WhatsApp's new media sharing shortcut, call notification disable feature, and upcoming communities feature show that the app is committed to providing users with a better experience and enhancing its capabilities. However, for those looking for more advanced file transfer options, third-party apps like Core or built-in features like Move to iOS may be a better option. As WhatsApp continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see what new features and capabilities the app will introduce in the future.
