Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 is Now Available for Pixel Phones

The Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 Is finally being rolled out to Google Pixel devices. With QPR1 now stable, Google is preparing to deliver Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 as the next significant Pixel upgrade in March.

Google’s Expected Timeline

If Google's August prediction is correct, there will only be two Quarterly Platform Release betas for Android 13. As with QPR1, this should imply three QPR2 betas, a stable release in March 2023, and a generally bug-free experience for those who sign up via the Android Beta Program.

System images for Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 are available for the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro, as well as the Android Emulator.

The Android Beta Program website will direct most users to install Beta 1 (T2B1.221118.006) with the December security patch. In the following hours, you may anticipate an OTA update. Overall, we are quite pleased with the latest Android 13 update. Let’s have a quick look at some of the noticeable features shipped with the latest OS.

Android 13 Features

In line with the Material You theme, more colors are available in the theme settings in Android 13, allowing for more customization. Currently, there are four wallpaper colors and four basic colors to select from, but with Android 13, there will be 16 of each. To access the new color theme choices, just press and hold on an empty section of the home screen, or go to Settings and choose Wallpaper & style. If you enable Themed icons, you should see more of them now.

Android 13 has various enhancements that restrict what your applications may access. To begin, when an app such as photo transfer app requests permission to view media files, they are classified as photos, videos, or audio files. You don't have to provide access to all of your photographs using the new photo picker. Instead of enabling an app to view your whole picture collection, you may choose which photographs and videos it can access.

Until today, allowing an app to check for nearby Wi-Fi devices required giving it permission to monitor your position. Thankfully, this is no longer the case, since there is now a distinct permission option for Nearby Wi-Fi Devices. The Privacy dashboard (accessible via Settings > Privacy > Privacy dashboard), which shows any applications that have accessed the camera, microphone, location, and other permissions in the recent 24 hours, may now display history from the last seven days.

The updates in Android 13 aimed to make living with bigger displays a little simpler are maybe the most exciting feature. On an Android tablet or folding phone, a task bar at the bottom with commonly used applications, a two-column layout for fast settings and alerts, and quicker drag-and-drop multitasking with the ability to pin app pairings in the Recent Apps menu are now available. There's also support for Wear OS smartwatches to automatically unlock tablets and audio-switching, which means your wireless earphones will move from phone to tablet when you start watching a movie on your tablet. Google has begun pushing out changes to over 20 Google products, including YouTube Music and Google Maps, with revamped interfaces that take use of bigger screen sizes.

These are just some of the brand-new features coming with the Android 13 update. We are slowly testing the all the new features and will share a detailed blog soon!
