Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: At A Glance

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: At A Glance

In India, Motorola has recently released its first 'Ultra' smartphone. The Edge 30 Ultra has some extremely unusual technology and is India's first smartphone with a 200-megapixel main camera. A brief peek at its spec sheet reveals that it is all about huge numbers. Let's look through the features quickly to determine whether it stands out in its market area or blends in with the crowd.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: What You Need to Know

The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is positioned above the Edge 30 Pro, which was released in India earlier this year at a very reasonable pricing. The Edge 30 Ultra comes in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for Rs. 59,999. The phone comes in two colors: Starlight White and Interstellar Black.

On the front and back panels, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is used. The rear panel is curved on the sides but seems flat towards the top and bottom. It has a distinct texture that, when exposed to strong light, rejects fingerprints due to its shimmering appearance.

The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra's screen features curved edges on both sides that merge into the slim metal frame. Because of the flexible nature of the pOLED screen, the bezels surrounding the display are tiny all around. The matte-finished aluminium frame is rather slippery. The volume rocker and power button are located on the phone's right side.

While the physical shape of the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is comparable to that of most other smartphones in this market, its chiseled appearance (8.39mm thin) makes it stand out, and it is also relatively light to carry at 198.5g. It does seem to be a little tall for one-handed usage. The phone boasts an official IP52 dust and water resistance certification, which is higher than the majority of the competitors at this price range.

The Edge 30 Ultra's 6.67-inch full-HD+ display has a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz, which should be great for gaming but also makes the software seem smooth to use. The display is also HDR10+ certified, albeit this capability is not yet recognized by certain streaming applications like as Netflix. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC featured in similarly priced smartphones from OnePlus and iQoo powers the phone.

It runs MyUX, a near-stock version of Android 12, and Motorola promises three generations of Android upgrades (up to Android 15), as well as four years of security patches, which is excellent. The software looks to be pretty vanilla, with the typical Motorola tweaks such as Peek display, File sharing, Quick capture, etc. and no extra third-party applications. Furthermore, Motorola has chosen a triple rear camera arrangement that features a 200-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that also functions as a macro camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom. A 60-megapixel camera is in charge of taking selfies.

The device supports HDR10+ video recording at 4K resolution. In terms of battery capacity, Motorola has managed to squeeze a 4,610mAh battery inside the Edge 30 Ultra's small frame. The supplied charger can charge the phone up to 125W. There's also a 50W wireless charging station and a 10W reverse wireless charging station.
