Android 13 Makes It Easy to Segregate Business and Personal Data

The latest Android software update seems quite impressive from the leaks we have seen so far. Googel claims that Android 13 has new features aimed at improving the experience of using a single smartphone for both work and pleasure.

Keep Your Work and Personal Lives Separate

Android 13’s revamped “work profiles” expand upon last year’s advancements to keep an employee’s personal data separate from their work data and make the user experience better and more productive, all while still complying to an IT department’s admin restrictions.

One enhancement in Android 13 allows workers to choose whether an app such as Android phone transfer should be accessed in their personal or business profile. According to Google, this may be effective for keeping business content off of personal YouTube watchlists. Employees may also have two picture galleries on their smartphones, one for personal usage and one for work, to provide a more tailored sharing experience with personal and business applications.

Android 13 also adds smart dictation to work profile applications for Pixel users which Google promises will keep “corporate language dictated for business emails out of personal chats.” Meanwhile, a new central hub feature makes it easier for workers to control their device security and privacy settings, as well as view what data is shared with business administrators and any limits they've put on devices.

Admins also have additional control over Wi-Fi access on devices, thanks to the addition of security logs for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and password actions in accordance with the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP).

More improvements for Android 13 are described as "coming soon." Stay Private on Work Wi-Fi will automatically encrypt communications when personal accounts are toggled by an employee for usage on a company's wireless network, while Lost Mode will enable IT administrators to shut off access and find lost or stolen company-owned devices. Finally, via company-issued Chromebooks, workers will be able to securely control messages, alerts, and photographs on their phones.

This will make it easier to create a healthy work-life balance. We look forward to how these features can be utilized.
