iOS 16 Feature:  Now Edit & Delete iMessage on your iPhone

iOS 16 for the iPhone was recently published by Apple a few days ago, and it includes several new iOS features. The Mail app includes several new features that make it more similar to Gmail, and there is a new lock screen that you can entirely configure. The Messages app, though, has one of the greatest upgrades. We have gathered all the major information linked with iOS 16 iMessage features and let’s jump into details to find out what is stored for iPhone users.

iMessage Edit Feature

The official news indicates Apple now gives you the option to modify or even delete a message you might have mistakenly sent to the wrong recipient. Here is how to modify and remove sent iMessages after installing iOS 16. To be clear, you cannot modify or delete conventional text messages; only iMessages provide these amazing features for Apple users’ convenience. Here are the detailed steps for deleting iPhone iMessages swiftly.

It is safe to assume that everyone has sent too many iMessages with autocorrect enabled, perhaps resulting in embarrassing errors. Before iOS 16, you had to admit your error and accept that the recipient's phone will always have it. The same story goes for saving high-quality images and videos. All the junk files stored in your iPhone were creating massive lagging issues. Apple users were tired of installing random photo cleaner apps to boost their smartphone performance but never figured out the real solution. Now after updating to iOS 16, you will be able to adjust a message within fifteen minutes after sending it.

How to Edit iMessage

Once you discover your error, you'll need to act rapidly. However, if you do and you still have fifteen minutes left, all you have to do is long-press on the message and choose Edit from the menu of choices. When the text area reappears, you may correct your mistake and then save it. If the recipient is running iOS 16 as well, a little "Edited" label will show up beneath the updated message that does not indicate your error. They may view a history of the edits you made to the message by tapping on the Edited label. Each modification you make will be seen in history if you made several changes. An additional message with the updated wording will be sent to iOS users using earlier versions of the system.

How to delete iMessage

If you accidentally send a message to the wrong person or thread, entirely erasing a message that you've sent within the past two minutes might be useful. The same 15-minute timeframe that editing messages had initially applied to removing erroneous messages, but Apple ultimately reduced the window to two minutes to stop misuse of the function. Once you've come to your senses, long-press the message until a menu appears. After that Tap Undo Send on that menu. You will get a brief animation of the message dissipating followed by a line of text in the thread informing everyone that the message has been deleted.

Release Date of iOS 16 iMessage Update

The great news is that once your iPad and Mac are running iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura, this iMessage feature will also function on them smoothly. So go ahead and make mistakes on whichever device you're using for a chat as you can now correct them easily. The global release date of the iOS 16 iMessage update is not yet officially announced but Apple will be releasing more information soon within one, two, or three weeks.
