How to Convert Chromebook to Mobile Hotspot



There has been a rise in the number of laptops and Chromebooks that come equipped with an integrated SIM card slot, allowing users to connect to the same network as their mobile phone. Your laptop will be able to have native access to mobile data and will remain connected almost anywhere as a result of this.

However, one major feature is absent from always-connected Chromebooks in particular, and that is the ability to create a hotspot. However, when the next update comes along, it will be corrected.

Mobile Hotspot Update

A toggle that would allow users to switch on a tethering hotspot is currently being developed by Google. It will, at least initially, appear as a feature flag that you can switch on through chrome:/flags. This feature flag "enables the Chromebook to share its cellular internet connection to other devices over WiFi," and it will be available in the beginning. Users can now easily run copy my data applications without fear of disconnections. We don't know much more than that, despite the fact that it is very illustrative of itself.

Presumably, it would function on Android phones and pretty much any other device that has the ability to act as a hotspot in the same way that it does presently. If that is the case, it will allow you to set a network name (SSID) and a unique password. Depending on the device, it may even allow you to tweak things like the network's band, which could be 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or even 6GHz, or two or all three of those frequencies if your modem has the capability for it.

It certainly seems like a mistake on Google's part not to have included this from the very beginning, particularly considering that the capability has been available for many years on Android phones and, similarly, on PCs. On the other hand, if we're being really honest, we don't believe that a Chromebook would be the main mobile device that the average person would take about with them.

After going live, this would still be helpful for a few things, such as sharing your connection with a buddy who is using a laptop that only supports Wi-Fi or in the event that your phone has reached the monthly data limit for its plan.
