Apple’s Latest iOS 16 Beta Does Not Hide Edits of Users

In the newest developer beta published on Wednesday, Apple introduced an edit history to iOS 16's new iMessage editing tool. You may see the edit history by tapping on the "Altered" text that appears below an edited message, and all of the modifications will display above the most recent one. You may also only make five changes to a single message now.

Edited Messages History

Apple’s edited messages does not work as you thought it would. Once you edit a text, the old message is shown as history (Similar to a thread) above the latest. The edits will be above the primary one in a lighter grey tone.

The edit history fills a significant gap in Apple's initial implementation of iMessage editing. Because there is no history, the edit tool might conceivably be used to modify nasty or hurtful messages after they have been delivered. We are not sure if they get delivered via clone phone apps.  While Apple's little "Edited" remark would indicate that anything had been modified, you wouldn't be able to read what had previously been stated.

Apple has also reduced the time it takes to unsend a message from 15 minutes to just two. Beginning Wednesday, developers will be able to test the Live Activities API in order to create the new widget-like lock screen alerts. Live Activities will not be accessible in the first public version of iOS 16, which will be released this autumn, but Apple says they will be available in a subsequent update "later this year."
