According to Samsung, 10 Million Foldables Were Sold in 2021

Samsung’s foldables have been at the forefront of the smartphone industry ever since their initial release. The smartphones sleek design and premium features have made them the must-have Android phone. Hence, it is no surprise that South Korean company got insane number of orders for the Galaxy Z Flip and Folds.

10 Million Foldables Delivered

Samsung has announced, only a few of short weeks before its next Unpacked presentation, that it has delivered "nearly 10 million foldable devices" all over the globe. Dr. TM Roh, the head of Mobile Experience (MX) Business at Samsung, said in a piece that was published on the Samsung Newsroom that this represents a 300 percent rise from the year 2020 and that he expects what he refers to as "fast-paced growth" to continue.

According to reports, over seventy percent of the company's foldable clients opted for the clamshell-style Flip. That should come as no surprise at all given that Samsung has already stated that the Flip 3 was responsible for more customers switching brands than any of its flagship products. Plus the foldables back up their aesthetic design by amazing processing power for complex tasks including phone clone apps.

The shipping estimates that were previously provided by IDC are far lower than Roh says Samsung delivered last year, which is the case since Roh claims Samsung sold 10 million devices. According to a forecast that was published in February by the International Data Corporation, the company "witnessed global sales of foldable phones, inclusive of both flip and fold form factors, reach a total of 7.1 million units in 2021." Regardless of whether number is accurate, Samsung's MX division reported a rise in revenue for the prior fiscal year. This was mostly because to the robust sales of Samsung's foldables and its most recent Galaxy S handsets.

In addition to providing an update on the performance of Samsung's smartphones, Roh also revealed that the company would be revealing its newest Flip and Fold models at the next iteration of its Unpacked event. The next Unpacked event that Samsung will host will take place on August 10 at 9AM Eastern Time.
