What You Need to Know About the Galaxy S23

The Galaxy S23 is coming, and Samsung is already taking reservations, even though it hasn’t officially said the phone’s name publicly. We can be sure that on February 1 at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event we’ll learn more about the new phone family, but there are still some important bits that haven’t leaked that we're waiting for Samsung to share.

What We Already Know

Information is about the Galaxy S23 has been leaking regularly as the launch data nears, and we have a clear sense of how the new phones will appear and what will be inside. We know that the next Galaxy S23 family will look similar to last year's Galaxy S22 Ultra, with camera lenses protruding from the surface rather than the large camera module seen on today's top iPhones. The Galaxy S23 will not get the previously revealed super-massive 200MP Samsung camera sensor, but the Galaxy S23 Ultra will.

We know what colors will be available at launch. We know how much the phone will cost and when it will be available for purchase. Most of the internal features, including RAM, storage, and the S Pen that will stay on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, have been leaked.

The Missing Pieces

Even though we have a decent understanding of the Galaxy S23, there are still some unknowns that could influence our decision on whether to buy or recommend the phone. One of the key areas of interest is the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, which caused some controversy in the previous model. Reviewers and users alike noted that the Qualcomm variant had better performance and power management. It was able to handle heavy processing tasks such as share music file without overheating. It remains to be seen if Samsung has addressed these issues in the Galaxy S23. Another aspect to consider is Bixby, Samsung's voice assistant. While some users may find it unnecessary, others appreciate its ability to perform specific tasks, such as adjusting phone settings. Bixby's granular control over the user interface sets it apart from competitors like Siri and Alexa.

The Galaxy S23's display is also worth noting. While the Galaxy S22 Ultra featured a 6.8-inch screen, rumors suggest the S23 will have a 6.2-inch display. Additionally, Samsung is known to be working on a new foldable display technology, which could potentially be incorporated into the Galaxy S23.

Lastly, battery life is a crucial aspect of any phone, and there is currently no information on the Galaxy S23's power management capabilities. It will be interesting to see how the phone performs in terms of battery life and if it offers any new features or improvements in this area.

We won’t have to wait long to have our answers since the launch is just a few days away!
