Accidental Delete for WhatsApp Messages Rolling Out
Anyone can make mistakes, often while texting we type quickly and make typos. WhatsApp has added a new feature for those times when we're moving a bit too fast.
‘Accidental Delete’ Messages on WhatsApp
WhatsApp’s Head tweeted about the new "Accidental Delete" function for the popular messaging service. This new function on WhatsApp will erase the "Delete for Me" option, which removes a message from your personal view. This feature should come in helpful if you intended to remove a message for another person or multiple people in a group, but mistakenly deleted it from your view alone.
When you pick a message to delete in the app, you will be given the choice to Delete for Me or Delete for Everyone. If you pick Delete for Me by mistake, a popup will appear from the typing area, enabling you to recover the message and then delete it correctly. According to reports, this option will linger for 5 seconds, so you'll need to move swiftly if you want to rectify a mistake.
In 2017, WhatsApp began enabling users to erase messages from only their view or from everyone's app. When the tool originally became available, users faced a seven-minute limit for erasing messages, which was then raised to 60 hours earlier this year. In other news, we also hope that the Met-owned messaging platform makes WhatsApp backup transfer simpler across platforms. In addition, in August 2022, WhatsApp began testing the option for group managers to remove messages for everyone in a group conversation before rolling it out later that month.
