According to Reports, iPhone 14’s Physical SIM Card Space Wasted

The iPhone 14 variants are the latest smartphones from Apple. The device has various notable features but has gotten mixed reviews. One drastic change (At least for users in the USA) is the removal of the physical SIM tray and opting for eSIMs.

iFixit published a teardown of the iPhone 14 Pro Max today, revealing what replaced the SIM card tray. Continue reading to learn more.

iPhone 14 Teardown: SIM Card Space Wasted

iFixit has published an in-depth disassembly of Apple's flagship iPhone 14 Pro Max, allowing us to see inside the device. As previously stated, all iPhone 14 versions in the United States lack a physical SIM card slot. The teardown indicates that Apple has used a little piece of plastic to occupy the place of the real SIM card tray. This signifies that the SIM card tray has not been charged with anything new. The same location stores a tray for actual SIM cards in other countries.

In addition, comprehensive photographs of the iPhone 14 Pro's motherboard, which has Apple's newest A16 Bionic processor, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X65 modem for 5G means better data share functions and Satellite connection, are available on the web. Nonetheless, the disassembly indicates that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are not as repairable as their ordinary versions. This means that, unlike ordinary iPhone 14 models, the iPhone 14 Pro Max opens from the front.

The 'Pro' versions don't have a detachable back glass. The internals are organized like the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Because the rear glass is not detachable, repairing the iPhone 14 Pro models will cost you more money. If you do not have AppleCare+, Apple will charge you between $499 and $549 to replace the damaged rear glass.

We get why consumers have mixed feelings regarding the iPhone 14 models. Whereas the prices have been hiked up, the updates do not exactly justify the cost. Considering the current worldwide economic crisis, people may stick with their iPhone 13 models a little longer.
