Google Finds Apple’s Green Text Bubbles Difficult to Read for Users

Cross-platform texting is fairly simple however there are certain issues that you can’t just ignore. People who exchange text messages between iPhones and Android smartphones have been experiencing a variety of issues, and Google is placing the blame for these issues squarely on Apple and demanding that the tech titan from Silicon Valley "fix texting."

Apple Signalled Out

According to Google, Apple has failed to upgrade the technology that it uses for sending and receiving text messages, which has led to grainy videos, poor music transfers and issues with group chats when exchanging messages with devices that run Android.

If Apple decided to improve its technology, Google argues that popular iMessage features such as read receipts, typing indications, and the ability to communicate over WiFi could also exist across Apple and Android devices. The search giant even criticized Apple for making text messages on iPhones appear in different colored bubbles than iMessages, saying that using "white text on a bright green background" makes the messages "difficult to read." This criticism was made in response to Apple's decision to make text messages on iPhones appear in different colored bubbles than iMessages.

At this time, Apple translates communications sent between iPhones and Android devices into SMS and MMS messages. SMS and MMS are older standards for technology that have been available for decades.

The majority of the communications problems that exist between iPhones and Androids are, according to Google, caused by "outdated" standards. The firm that makes Android wants Apple to embrace a newer messaging standard that is known as Rich Communication Services, or RSC. This standard, according to the business, would eliminate almost all of the problems that arise when communicating through message across devices of various brands.
